Allison Lanier‘s time on The Young and the Restless is coming to an end.

The actress, who plays Summer Newman on the CBS soap opera, announced April 30 that she will be leaving the show after almost three years.

“This Friday, May 2nd, will be my last episode on Y&R!” Allison wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I’ve loved the journey and learned so much but it’s time to grow in a different direction.”

The 34-year-old, who earned her first Daytime Emmy nomination last year, added that she feels “very grateful for all of the Y&R fans who have supported me.”

Allison joined the cast in May 2022, playing the daughter of legacy characters Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). She succeeded the role from Hunter King, who was on the show on-and-off from 2012 to 2022.

The character was first introduced in 2006 with various child actors playing the part. When Summer reached her teenage years, Lindsay Bushman was cast to play the Genoa City native in 2009, before the torch was passed onto Hunter.
