WrestleMania 41, the two-night event that took place April 19-20 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, became the most successful and highest-grossing event in company history.
WWE announced the news on Tuesday, revealing that the event generated the largest gate in history, bringing in 124,693 fans across two nights at Allegiant Stadium. It was the most-viewed WrestleMania of all time, up 114% from the record set at last year’s event.
The event highlights included Cody Rhodes losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to John Cena (with the help of Travis Scott), Seth Rollins winning the Triple Threat Match against Roman Reigns and CM Punk and the return of Becky Lynch.
This was the first WrestleMania to livestream on Netflix in most international markets and the first time WrestleMania was held during Easter weekend.
Merchandise sales onsite, in partnership with Fanatics, were up 45%, making the event the highest-grossing event of all time. E-commerce sales were also up 86% versus last year’s record and there were a record 28 total partners in place. The exclusive hospitality experience partner, On Location, saw a 75% increase in hospitality sales and packages.
The weekend also featured a five-day interactive fan experience in partnership with Fanatics Events, WWE World, which raked in more than 50,000 attendees, a 21% increase from last year’s WrestleMania events.
On social platforms, WrestleMania 41 generated 1.1 billion views throughout the weekend with Sunday becoming WWE’s YouTube channel’s most-viewed day ever.
The news follows Monday’s announcement of “WWE: Unreal,” a new docuseries set to premiere on Netflix this summer that will give viewers a closer look at the organization and its writers’ room.
