As I’ve always said, one Joshua Jackson is simply not enough Joshua Jacksons. Clearly, the writers and producers on Doctor Odyssey agree.
In this week’s episode of the Ryan Murphy ABC show, the Dawson’s Creek alum is playing his own twin brother as Dr. Max (Jackson) heads back to his hometown to check in with his family. While we know that his mom died from a stroke near the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, few other details have been shared over the first 14 episodes about Max’s family, including the fact that he has a twin.
“I was hoping to go home for a few days,” Max says to Captain Robert (Don Johnson) in a new teaser for Episode 15, “Crew Week.” The next shot sees Max’s brother — dressed in a button-up and a quarter zip — opening a front door to welcome his twin home, “What are you doing here, brother?”

The rest of the teaser sees The Odyssey’s medical team, Avery (Phillipa Soo) and Tristan (Sean Teale), responding to numerous medical emergencies with fellow crew members without the assistance of their doctor in charge. For one, Rosie (Jacqueline Toboni) is facing an amputation after a heavy piece of machinery falls on her foot, while Spencer (Marcus Emanuel Mitchell) is sweating and seizing, potentially from issues related to his shark bite back in Episode 9.
With only four episodes left until the Season 1 finale — which could also serve as the series finale if ABC foregoes giving the show a second season — there is still so much more drama to unpack.
The first 14 episodes of Doctor Odyssey are currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+. New episodes air on ABC Thursdays at 9 PM PT and stream the next day.
