Shane Gillis‘ workplace comedy, Tires, is the little show that could!
The Netflix series — which follows the undermotivated and overly-crass auto workers of the Valley Forge Automotive Center, including Shane (Gillis) and his good-natured but gullible cousin Will (Steve Gerben) — is what some online might call an “underrated gem” and a sleeper hit for the streaming service. In fact, Gillis — who serves as co-creator alongside John McKeever and Gerben — funded the six-episode Season 1 prior to Netflix picking it up.
The show proved to be such a good investment for the streamer — pause to note that Gillis’ stand-up special, Beautiful Dogs, made a major splash upon its debut in 2023 and the comedian is currently on tour, meaning another one could be on the way. As for Tires‘ profitability, though, Netflix made the bold decision to renew the show for a second season days before Season 1 even dropped in 2024. Clearly, there’s an appetite for shows that make people laugh and also make them slightly uncomfortable. Hey, we all may race past the “Scott’s Tots” episode of The Office but “Dinner Party” is a hit for a reason.
So, will Tires get a third season? And with Gillis so busy these days, when exactly might it release on Netflix? Here’s everything we know about Tires Season 3…
Has Tires Been Renewed For Season 3?
At this time, Tires has not been renewed by Netflix for a third season. Don’t worry just quite yet, though, this is not uncommon for Netflix shows. Many of Netflix’s biggest hits have waited weeks (and sometimes even months) to get confirmation that more episodes would be coming.
Most likely, we will know if the show will return for a third season by mid-July to August. We will keep you in the loop as we get information, too, so be sure to check back with us and we will update the story as more details emerge. In the meantime, get to watching Season 2 and tell everyone you know to watch it. Remember, Netflix is watching what you’re watching!
How Does Season 2 Of Tires End?
The second season ends with Shane possibly saving the day, stopping his dad, Phil (Thomas Haden Church), from selling off the fleet of stores. In the final moments of Season 2 Episode 12, “At What Cost,” Shane proposes a new plan to help drive up profits through partnerships with other local businesses. If Season 3 does happen, we can all but guarantee that Haden Church will be back along with the rest of the cast to stir up more chaos at the repair shop.
Who Stars In Tires?
The series stars Gillis, Haden Church, and Gerben, as well as Kilah Fox as Kilah, Stavros Halkias as Dave, and Chris O’Connor as Cal. Comedians Andrew Schulz and Tom Pope also recur as used car salesmen and friends of the Valley Forge workers.
When Could Season 3 Of Tires Release On Netflix?
If a Season 3 of Tires happens, it most likely won’t be out until 2026, and possibly not until the second half of the year. Currently, Gillis is filming a movie and on a stand-up tour so it could be a little while before he and the other writers have the opportunity to hammer out scripts. The show also films in Pennsylvania so it’s unclear when the group would all be able to get back there to shoot the third installment.
The one positive note on this topic is that the producer and creators were able to turn around a supersized second season — doubling the number of episodes from the first season, that is — in roughly a year, so if anyone can find the time and pull it together, it’s them. We believe in you, Tires crew!
Season 1 and Season 2 of Tires are both streaming now on Netflix.
