Shakira celebrates her single status in a new music video for “Soltera,” her first release since her Latin Grammy-nominated “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” LP debuted in March. The tropical song got the visual treatment on Friday with a new music video boasting guest appearances from Latin pop singers Anitta, Danna Paola, Natti Natasha and Bizarrap, among other internet personalities including Lele Pons and Harry Jowsey.
The video starts with Shakira waking up to a house keeper’s knock in a messy hotel room with a number of her friends sprawled across the floors and mattress. As the song begins, we see a flashback to the events of the day and night before: Shakira and crew on a yacht party, playing a game of strip poker and taking shots at the nightclub.
“I have the right to misbehave / to have a good time,” Shakira belts in the chorus of “Soltera.” “I’m on my own and now I can do what I want to do / It’s good to be single.”
Following the song’s release in September, Shakira previewed “Soltera” at LIV Miami where the glimmering new video was filmed. Clips of the stars filming the video began surfacing online, while Shakira and her co-stars promoted the then unannounced single on social media.
Shakira recently unveiled dates of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour for Latin America, with those shows — a Live Nation-produced trek to Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru and her native Colombia — kick starting next year. Named after first new album in seven years, the tour will begin with a North American leg on Nov. 2 at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif. These dates will be the first she plays since her 2018 “El Dorado World Tour,” which took her to stadiums and arenas around the world.
