The future of American Vogue is about to look different.

Anna Wintour announced that she is seeking a new head of editorial content for the magazine on Thursday. The hire will “lead the magazine’s daily operations across platforms” and report directly to Wintour, according to a statement from Vogue.

She will continue to serve in her roles as chief content officer for Condé Nast and global editorial director, Vogue.

Wintour, 75, currently oversees every Condé Nast publication on a global level — with the exception of the New Yorker — including Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveler, Glamour, Bon Appetit, Allure and more.

She was appointed as editor-in-chief of Vogue in 1988 and has since changed the editorial structure at the magazine to turn her sights on the company across the globe.

Per WWD, every market for the mag giant now includes both a head of editorial content and global editorial director.

“Anybody in a creative field knows how essential it is never to stop growing in one’s work. When I became the editor of Vogue, I was eager to prove to all who might listen that there was a new, exciting way to imagine an American fashion magazine,” Wintour told staff in a meeting on Thursday, per Vogue.

“Now, I find that my greatest pleasure is helping the next generation of impassioned editors storm the field with their own ideas, supported by a new, exciting view of what a major media company can be. And that is exactly the kind of person we need to now look for to be HOEC for US Vogue,” she said.

Wintour assured staff that she isn’t going anywhere and much of her tasks will remain the same, “including paying very close attention to the fashion industry and to the creative cultural force that is our extraordinary Met Ball, and charting the course of future Vogue Worlds, and any other original fearless ideas we may come up with…and it goes without saying that I plan to remain Vogue’s tennis and theater editor in perpetuity.”

The announcement comes after Vogue creative editorial director Mark Guiducci was tapped as the first ever VF global editorial director this week, leaving a hole in the masthead. Page Six exclusively reported that it was Wintour who installed Guiducci.

Page Six Style has reached out to reps for Condé Nast for comment.
